How to calculate Sand, Cement & Aggregate for M20 ratio Concrete?

Ratio for M20 grade concrete is 1:1.5:3

Cement = 1 Part

Sand = 1.5 Part

Coarse Aggregate = 3 Part

Total Parts = 1 + 1.5 + 3 = 5.5

 

Dry volume = Wet volume x 1.55 (You can also take it as 1.50 to 1.55)

So, Dry volume of concrete = 1 x 1.55 = 1.55 m³

 

Quantity of cement = (Dry volume of concrete x cement ratio)/(sum of the ratio)

Cement = (1.55 x 1)/(5.5) = 0.28 m³

Sand = (1.55 x 1.5)/(5.5) = 0.42 m³

Coarse Aggregate = (1.55 x 3)/(5.5) = 0.85 m³

 

Unit conversation for site condition

Density of Cement = 1440 kg/m³

Weight of Cement = 1440 x 0.28 = 403.2 Kg

No of bags required =  400/50 =  8 bags

 

Sand = 0.42 x 35.32 = 14.83 cft

One unit  = 100cft so, we need 0.15 unit of sand

 

Coarse Aggregate  = 0.85 x 35.32 = 30.02 cft

One unit  = 100cft so, we need 0.30 unit of coarse aggregate

 

Answer :   Cement – 8 bags

                  Sand – 0.15 unit

                  Coarse aggregate – 0.30 unit
